Cambridge Jazz Festival: The Alley Cats with Dennis Rollins

Saturday 16th November
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Come and join The Alley Cats for a nostalgic ride through the Disney songbook and other classic family favourites with special guest, award winning trombone player, Dennis Rollins.

A musical treat for all the family. The Alley Cats are a seven piece jazz band playing fresh and original arrangements of tunes from Disney and other popular children’s shows. Songs from The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Wille Wonka, Frozen, Dumbo, Aladdin, Cinderella, Monsters inc to name just a few. Face painting, quizzes, and more to help make this a fun afternoon for all.

The Alley Cats was formed in 2016 to perform at the Children’s Hospice in Milton. The children loved the Disney tunes so the project expanded further. We are now a seven piece modern jazz band playing original arrangements of Disney and other classic children’s films.

The band have performed in and around Cambridge at family events, also the Cambridge Jazz Festival, WillowFest, the children’s hospice music festival Eachfest, and at this years Fete de la Musique, Saffron Walden.

The band is led by Vicki Kenny who is a music therapist, as well as a jazz musician. She has worked for many years with children teaching jazz and improvisation. Her passion is music and performing jazz to a younger audience. It’s fun for the adults too, as many of the songs are nostalgic of our own childhood. Our aim is to makes the gigs accessible to all ages and provide a fun and uplifting experience for everyone.
