Indus Festival: Songs of the Mystics

Friday 15th March
7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Qawal Najmuddin Saifuddin trace their family lineage back to the 13th century, and today are considered leading singers of the Sufi Qawwali tradition. Their songs are thousands of years old and represent a mystic poetry that has been passed from generation to generation, hence them being known as Songs of the Mystics.

The Qawwali repertoire features pieces in a number of different languages, with the classical period mostly focused on works in North Indian dialects like Brajbhasha and Awadhi.

Part of the Indus Festival, presented by Indus Music and supported by the SAMA Arts Network and Arts Council England.
