Cambridge Jazz Festival: Cambridge Youth Jazz Band

Sunday 18th November
6:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Cambridge Youth Jazz Band hosts four entertaining sets of jazz standards, improvisation and new jazz and funk compositions.

Enliven your Sunday evening at this festival of jazz with outstanding instrumentalists, Josh Ison, Huw V Williams and John Scott, singer Ffion Rebecca and Cambridge’s ridiculously talented young jazz performers. The festival features:

– 6.30pm: Free jazz: Josh Ison Trio, a set of songs by free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman

– 7.30pm: Popular songs: Ffion Rebecca a BBC introducing featured singer / song writer supported by the Cambridge Jazz Youth Band and jazz pianist James Griffin

– 8.30pm: Jazz standards: Cambridge Jazz Youth Band

– 9.30pm: Funk: The Goods, the band’s youngest members perform their own songs

‘Although their (Ffion Rebecca and The Goods) ages range from 12 to 18 years old we predict this will be the gig to see this year, judging from the incredible rehearsals we’ve seen.’ John Souter organiser of St Ives Old Riverport Jazz and Blues Festival.
